Greenberg Traurig Expands Its Austin Office with the Addition of Energy Attorney Erika D. Benson
AUSTIN (PRWEB) January 08, 2014 -- The international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has added Erika D. Benson as a shareholder in its Global Energy and Infrastructure. Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Erika founded the Benson International Group, which provided clients with international, national and state-level regulatory, legislative, and political-related legal and consulting services in Austin and San Antonio. She will be based out of Greenberg Traurig’s Austin office.
“I am delighted to be joining a team of such knowledgeable and client-focused professionals,” said Benson. “I look forward to adding to an already strong energy compliance and transactional practice and to working at Greenberg Traurig to meet clients’ business and legal needs in the coming year.”
Benson has represented clients in the development and management of renewable energy transactions, and provided policy and regulatory advice to generation and transmission project developers. She spent several years as a Senior Advisor in the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. where she assisted U.S. companies with developing foreign public and private sector relationships for mutually-beneficial energy sector programs, projects and initiatives.
“Erika’s skill set will be a great asset to this office and to our Texas, domestic and global clients,” said Darrell Windham, co-managing shareholder of the firm’s Austin office. “Erika has a unique understanding of the business and economic terms and the state and federal regulatory and compliance issues related to renewable energy transactions.”
Benson holds a J.D. from The Catholic University Columbus School of Law and a B.A. from Denison University.
