“There could be no better partner for our 2014 promotional campaign than Chef Falkner,” says Valley of the Moon President Dan Zepponi. "We're thrilled."

Valley of the Moon Winery is thrilled to announce the appointment of celebrity Chef Elizabeth Falkner as spokesperson for its 2014 promotional campaign aptly titled A Slice of the Sonoma Lifestyle -- the Search for the Perfect Pizza.

Chef Elizabeth Falkner is one of the culinary world’s most recognizable chefs and a leader in the culinary scene. Before relocating to New York City, where she is currently the Executive Chef of Corvo Bianco on the upper west side, Falkner wowed the San Francisco/Bay Area with two Michelin-recommended restaurants – Citizen Cake and Orson.

Falkner is, perhaps, best known for her stellar performances in a multiple of culinary competitions including Next Iron Chef, Redemption, Iron Chef America, Next Iron Chef, Super Chefs, Food Network's Challenge and as a contestant on Bravo’s ‘Top Chef Masters. In addition to competing, Falkner has also acted as judge on several network shows including Bravo's Top Chef Just Desserts, Top Chef Masters and Top Chef.

But it was Falkner’s passion for producing the perfect pizza that really caught Valley of the Moon’s attention. As the reigning champion of the International Pizza Competition in Milan – and the first American and only female to have ever taken that throne – the winery knew it found the perfect partner for its A Slice of the Sonoma Lifestyle – the Search for the Perfect Pizza promotion.

With Falkner’s endorsement, Valley of the Moon is actively capitalizing on the ever-growing popularity of wine paired with handmade, artisan pizza. By offering simple yet delicious pizza and wine pairing solutions for the everyday wine consumer, the winery hopes to drive brand awareness and trial while solidifying its position as the perfect pizza wine. Already a fan of Valley of the Moon wines and of pizza and wine as a perfect pairing, Falkner will be lending her image, pizza recipes and press endorsement to the winery in a series of appearances, sweepstakes, advertising and PR campaigns throughout 2014, culminating in the ‘A Slice of the Sonoma Lifestyle Perfect Pizza Festival’ at Valley of the Moon Winery in September.

“We could not be more excited to launch our 2014 promotional campaign in partnership with Chef Falkner,” says Valley of the Moon President Dan Zepponi. “Every wine lover deserves to experience a slice of the Sonoma lifestyle with the perfect pizza and wine pairing. Through our combined efforts, we intend to give it to them.”

About Valley of the Moon Winery and Vineyards:
Valley of the Moon Winery borrows its name from the English translation of the Native American word Sonoma and has been at the heart of the region’s winemaking heritage since its founding in 1941. The historic winery is located on the original Madrone Vineyard Estate, first planted in 1863, where it thrived in the pre-prohibition era of the late 1800s and early 1900s. In 1941, the estate was sold to Italian sausage makers Enrico Parducci and Peter Domenici and renamed ‘Valley of the Moon.’

Today, 150 years since its original planting, Valley of the Moon Winery is now under the guidance of Sonoma native and wine industry veteran, Dan Zepponi, and has finally taken its rightful place among Sonoma Valley’s most celebrated wineries.
