Community-focused Sarasota restaurant and innovative blood center, OneBlood, hosting event for 15-year-old Austin Burnett in support of his battle with Lymphoma.

Sarasota’s Beef ‘O’ Brady’s along with Florida-based OneBlood ( are jointly hosting a fundraiser and blood drive on Saturday, February 15th, 2014 in support of 15-year old Austin Burnett. The event will feature multiple contests, a silent auction, and a number of raffle prizes.

A native of Sarasota, Austin is a special member of the community who is currently battling a rare form of Lymphoma. He is now in his fourth round of an expected eight rounds of chemotherapy treatments.

In a recent interview with U.S. 103.5 FM, Austin described how challenging his current struggle is but he manages to remain optimistic: “It’s tough because sometime it’s really difficult and hard to feel like a normal kid,” he said. “We’re doing as best we can. All the doctors at the All Children’s Hospital (in Sarasota) are really great and really care how I feel.”

Cliff Longshore, owner of Sarasota Beef ‘O’ Brady’s, said he wants to host the fundraiser to honor Austin’s courage as well as that of other Lymphoma sufferers. “I am incredibly inspired by this young man’s strength, positive attitude, and maturity in the face of such a difficult struggle,” he said. “I am thrilled Beef ‘O’ Brady’s can be part of Austin’s fight against this disease and help raise awareness of the importance of donating blood.”

The fundraising event is scheduled to take place from noon until 10 p.m. at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s, 3578 Clark Road, Sarasota, FL 34231. The blood drive will be held at the same location from noon until 5 p.m.
