With his sights set on growing his regional presence, Mark Oldenquist completed his purchase of Multivista’s Pittsburgh market at the end of 2013 and views this market as “strong, condensed and consolidated. Its proximity to Cleveland and Columbus (Ohio is a market fully owned by Oldenquist.) makes it a natural progression.” John Montesanto, who has been with Multivista and Mark for more than three years, will be leading the sales efforts in this new market.
Mark Oldenquist came to Multivista from Sprint/Nextel Wireless, focused on healthcare infrastructure and extending macros into campus settings. That experience provided a greater awareness of the value of the infrastructure contained in walls and ceilings. This perspective, along with a better appreciation for Facilities Maintenance and Management, provoked his interest in the benefits of the Multivista technology. He saw the “potential to inject some technology into a very antiquated industry” and purchased the Columbus region in 2008, branched out to Cincinnati in 2009 and Northern Ohio/Cleveland in 2010. By 2011 Oldenquist owned all of Ohio and in the following year purchased Lexington and Louisville Kentucky. In considering the addition of Pittsburgh, he noted, “As far back as 2009, the Pittsburgh market was a part of my business plan. It made sense. But I didn’t want to get over my skis too much, and 2013 was the right time.” This purchase effectively creates one of the largest regional Multivista markets under single ownership.
