Feed Your Soul: Visit Oakland Hosts 4th Annual Oakland Restaurant Week January 17-26
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) January 09, 2014 -- Foodies, rejoice—more than 50 of Oakland’s top restaurants will celebrate the fourth annual Oakland Restaurant Week, held January 17-26. With a growing list of restaurants receiving acclaim from national media, Oakland has become one of the hottest culinary destinations in California. This year’s program provides visitors and locals an opportunity to experience the diversity of Oakland’s booming food scene through a variety of special deals and fixed-priced options.
During the 10 day program, restaurants will offer prix fixe meals at $20, $30 or $40 for lunch, dinner or both. Some restaurants may choose to augment the meal with a special tasting, dessert or drink pairing in addition to the prix fixe meal. Tickets and passes are not required to dine at participating restaurants, but reservations are strongly recommended wherever possible.
“Oakland Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity to experience our destination. Food is a universal language that brings people together, and visitors will enjoy getting to know Oakland through our diverse culinary offerings,” said Alison Best, president & CEO of Visit Oakland. “People around the country are talking about Oakland’s food scene, yet many within an hour’s distance have yet to experience it. Restaurant Week is the time to dine in Oakland!”
According to a Visit Oakland survey, 67 percent of past Oakland Restaurant Week participants saw an increase in attendance in 2013 over previous years. Last year, Oakland Restaurant Week also generated more than $300,000 in revenue for Oakland restaurants. Overall, participating restaurants have provided positive feedback about the program.
"From the first day that we participated in Restaurant Week four years ago, we knew that it was going to be a special week,” said Chris Pastena, owner of Chop Bar, Lungomare and Tribune Tavern. “Restaurant Week showcases all of the talented culinary professionals from Oakland and brings Oakland restaurants together!"
This year, Visit Oakland is proud to announce the official sponsors of Oakland Restaurant Week: Diablo Magazine, Forge, Lungomare, Nido, Tribune Tavern, Desco, Spice Monkey and Yelp. Visit Oakland is also working in partnership with the City of Oakland, Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Oakland Restaurant Association to promote the event.
Oakland Restaurant Week is held as a part of California Restaurant Month, a program organized by Visit California. The statewide event is a promotional initiative to celebrate dining and promote post-holiday travel to California during the month of January.
