Taste Inc., the microwavable food and snacks manufacturer has run a competition that asked customers on Facebook what were their New Year’s resolutions and received 2,500 answers.
The top ten results were a mixture of the expected, the unexpected, and the slightly random.
There were the usual health fad resolutions that covered the top 4 results. Top of the resolutions list by a fairly long way was the desire ‘to lose weight’ with 14% of the votes, more than double the second highest, ‘get fit’ with 6%, then ‘stop smoking’ with 5% and ‘healthy eating’ with 4%
The 7th highest with 2% was ‘not to make any resolutions’ which those who voted for the health related resolutions will probably be making next year.
Alternatively ‘save money’ came next highest with 4%. Other resolutions that made the top 10 were ‘be happier’, ‘enter more competitions’ (with more than a touch of humour there), ‘get a new job’ and then ‘enjoy life more’. Surprisingly only two people resolved to find that special someone and fall in love.
Some of the more bizarre resolutions were to ‘stop skydiving’, no one voted for taking up skydiving, ‘take up ballroom dancing (as instructed by my wife)’, ‘Buy one Christmas present each month’, ‘Learn Swedish’ and ‘Learn more Qi Gong’.
