Major International Airlines On-time Arrivals
Major International airlines on average delivered 75.16% of their flights to the arrival gate within 15 minutes in December, significantly down from November’s 81.94%. More than 8% were excessively late (45+ minutes), up from 5.23% in November. (GF) Gulf Air, (SV) Saudi Arabian and (IB) Iberia were able to deliver more than 88% of their flights to the arrival gate within 15 minutes.

North American Airlines On-time Arrivals
On average, North American airlines delivered 70.27% of their flights to the arrival gate within 15 minutes of schedule, compared to Novembers 83.44%. (DL) Delta continued to lead the majors carriers, while (HA) Hawaiian maintained the top spot in North America with an on-time performance rating of 95.99%. (G4) Allegiant and (VX) Virgin America also topped the list.
North American’s top ten performing airlines and their on-time percentages were:

European Airlines On-time Arrivals
The average on-time performance rating among the European airlines was 79.01%, down from 97.36% last month. (I2) Iberia Express was ranked number one among European airlines with an on-time performance of 92.73%, while Iberia led the major carriers with an on-time performance of 88.11%.

The average on-time performance rating among the Asian airlines was 70.84%, down from 73.34% last month. (BX) Air Busan was ranked number one again among Asian airlines with an on-time performance of 93.20%, leading the major carriers was (JL) Japan Airlines with an on-time performance of 87.35%.

Major International airports had an on-time departure rate of 71%, down nearly 9% from Novembers 79.65%. Tokyo’s (HND) Haneda, (NRT) Narita and (SYD) Sydney topped the list. (SYD) Sydney, ranked 29 in November, delivered an on-time departure rate of 81.71% in December.

North American Airports On-time Departures
The average on-time departure performance for the North American airports was 71.78%, compared to Novembers 84.16%. (HNL) Honolulu, (CLT) Charlotte and (DCA) Washington topped the list. Over 17% of departures were 30+ minutes or greater, compared to 8.9% in November.

The average on-time departure performance for the group was 68.83%, down 10% from November. (SAW) Istanbul was Europe’s top airport with a 86.25% on-time departure performance in December, (ATH) Athens and (PMI) Palma Mallorca followed closely.

The on-time departure performance of Asian airports was 65.32%, up 4% from November. (ITM) Osaka International Airport remained the leading Asian airport with an on-time performance rating of 92.87%. For the third month in a row, (PEK) Beijing improved their on-time departure rate by 10% and (CAN) Guangzhou improved by nearly 20%.
