Calling All College Bound High School Football Players
Newport News, Va. (PRWEB) January 10, 2014 -- Attention high school football players looking to continue their athletic careers into college.
The Game Plan returns to Newport News, VA. this month, marking the fifth event in the Tidewater Physical Therapy and recruit757 series of college scholarship workshops for high school football players and their parents.
The Newport News workshop will be held Jan. 21 at the Oyster Point Tidewater Physical Therapy Clinic and Tidewater Performance Center, located at 751 J. Clyde Morris Boulevard.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for athletes and parents. The workshop will start at 7 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m.
Dozens of high school athletes have attended these seminars and taken away lessons on “everything off the field that relates to the next steps in your football career,” said Andy Hilton, founder of recruit757, a scouting and video service for colleges who turn to the region to look for quality athletes.
“We cover NCAA rules and regulations, the NCAA Clearinghouse, a timeline for your recruitment, what to expect from the recruiting process, financial planning, academics and more.”
The “more” includes the expertise from sports, academic and collegiate experts in the area.
Scheduled speakers include:
• Mike Satterley, PT, DPT, CSCS of Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Oyster Point Clinic and Katie Benick of the Tidewater Performance Center on the Functional Movement Screen and injury prevention
• Giavanni Ruffin, an NFL prospect and motivational speaker, on “How Bad Do You Want It?”
• Christopher Newport University Athletic Director Todd Brooks
• SAT Expert Paula Brown
• Andy Hilton of recruit757
• Larry Archie, former college administrator and Head Coach of I.C. Norcum High School in Portsmouth
Space is limited. The first four seminars, held in Newport News, Chesapeake, Williamsburg and Virginia Beach, drew large crowds of student athletes and parents. Registration is required for this free event.
Players are encouraged to wear their jerseys for an updated profile picture on recruit757.com.
