Today, the Alabama Media Group, which operates AL.com, The Birmingham News, The Huntsville Times, Press-Register and The Mississippi Press, announced the launch of a paid summer internship program with positions in its content and sales & marketing departments.
“Our organization has undergone a great transformation over the last year, and this internship program is just another way to demonstrate our commitment to our communities,” said Alabama Media Group president, Matt Sharp.
The program is open to current, full-time undergraduate or graduate students pursuing a degree in Journalism, Business, Communications, or related fields.
As part of a national internship program organized by Alabama Media Group’s national affiliate, Advance Local, interns will be immersed in the Alabama organization for 8 weeks and then come together for a national summit in the New York City area with fellow interns from across the country.
In addition to the positions at the Alabama Media Group, Advance Local is seeking candidates for its MassLive.com, MLive Media Group, NJ.com, NOLA Media Group, Northeast Ohio Media Group, Oregonian Media Group, PA Media Group and Syracuse Media Group affiliates.
Students must be available to work between June 2, 2014 and July 25, 2014. Intern position descriptions are available on http://www.advancelocal.net/internship-program.
Applications will be accepted between January 6, 2014 – February 28, 2014, and candidates will be notified by March 14, 2014. Applicants must supply a resume, references and up to 3 work or writing samples.
