NYC Nonprofit The LAMP Seeks Gift Bag Donations for Teen Super Bowl Event
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 13, 2014 -- The LAMP (Learning About Multimedia Project) is currently seeking gift bag donations for a Super Bowl party it is co-hosting with the McBurney YMCA in Chelsea for area teens.
The event, "Break the Super Bowl 2014," will involve 35 teens creating their own video projects deconstructing commercials airing during the Super Bowl. In the process, they will hone basic skills in multimedia production and manipulation as well as critical thinking skills. Working in small groups to complete the projects, the teens will also practice collaboration, problem-solving and communication skills.
Gift bag items will be given as prizes to teams that successfully complete various learning challenges presented during the game. The LAMP prefers but does not require that items be related to media, learning and technology.
In addition to serving as an informal learning environment, "Break the Super Bowl 2014" will also provide a positive space for teens to be during the game. "Particularly with this year’s Super Bowl taking place in New York and New Jersey, it’s important for NYC teens to have a positive place to be during the excitement on game day," said D.C. Vito, Executive Director for The LAMP. "'Break the Super Bowl' creates a positive space for teens on game day, and we hope others will support our effort to give them a great experience."
Companies providing donations will have their logo and a link to their website posted on the ‘Partners’ page of thelampnyc.org as well as the event page, thelampnyc.org/superbowl2014. Donors will also be acknowledged in social media, blog posts and forthcoming press releases. The LAMP is a 501(c)3 organization; it is recommended that donors confirm tax deductibility with their own accountants.
All gifts should be received no later than Friday, January 28, 2014. Interested parties should first contact Emily Long, Director of Communications and Development, at Emily(at)thelampnyc(dot)org or by phone at 718-789-8170.
