Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) January 13, 2014 -- The World Allergy Organization (WAO) has announced the new editorship of Alessandro Fiocchi, M.D., as Editor-in-Chief of the World Allergy Organization Journal (WAO Journal) effective 1 January.
Dr. Fiocchi is the Director of Allergy at the Pediatric Hospital Bambino Gesù in Rome, Vatican City. He is an expert in the field of food allergy, and his publications cover the fields of food allergy diagnosis, follow-up, epidemiology, specific immunotherapy, and childhood asthma. Currently, he leads a research group, based in the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital (OPBG), focusing on food allergy, asthma, and specific immunotherapy.
Launched in 2008 as an online-only journal, the World Allergy Organization Journal made a transition to open access publishing in 2013, to further increase availability of the journal anywhere in the world for all individual members of the WAO member societies. “With a worldwide platform, the journal offers a special opportunity for the exchange of information and ideas from different regions in the world. We are delighted to have Alessandro Fiocchi’s leadership during the next era of the World Allergy Organization Journal as an open access publication,” said Lanny Rosenwasser, M.D., President of the World Allergy Organization.
Dr. Fiocchi has served as a section editor or member of the editorial boards of several major medical journals in the field of allergy and clinical immunology. He founded and presides over the Italian Research Foundation for Allergy and Asthma in Childhood – Allergria ONLUS, a charity dedicated to clinical and research studies.
