Countywide Solar Incentive Program Launches with Sullivan Solar Power on the Heels of the State Rebate Program Ending
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) January 13, 2014 -- With the vision of transitioning Orange County into a national leader for renewable energy deployment, local business Sullivan Solar Power is administering a countywide solar incentive program. The Orange County Solar Program, which launched in the New Year, provides significant cash incentives in addition to the federal tax credit. The initiative came in perfect timing for local residents, as the statewide California Solar Initiative rebates were recently fully exhausted for residential property owners.
“Orange County is in the optimal location to shine as a leader in solar technology,” said Daniel Sullivan, founder and president of Sullivan Solar Power. “This region has a profound opportunity to be a case study to the rest of the nation, and our program is designed to support that vision.”
There are three guaranteed incentive milestones in the program, which lasts through December 31, 2014. The Orange County Solar Program is modeled similarly to the previous state program whereby early adopters receive the highest incentives. The program is structured into three phases, and as milestones are reached, incentive amounts will drop by tiered amounts. With program incentives currently in phase one, the typical resident who signs up will receive a payment of $2,000.
• The first 250,000 watts (approximately 50 homes) = $0.40 per watt up to $2,000
• The second 500,000 watts (approximately 100 homes) = $0.30 per watt up to $1,500
• All remaining participants until December 31, 2014 = $0.20 per watt up to $1,000
“With the Orange County Solar Program, homeowners can go solar without spending any money upfront and receive a $2,000 check for doing so,” said Daniel Sullivan, founder and president of Sullivan Solar Power, “How is that for a stimulus plan?”
A series of free informational luncheons will be taking place throughout the County to cover solar technology, rebates and incentives, and the details of the Orange County Solar Program. The first seminar will be taking place on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the City of San Clemente’s Aquatic Center.
