San Diego, California (PRWEB) January 14, 2014
SmartDrive Systems, a leader in driving performance solutions that reduce collisions and improve fuel efficiency, today announced that Michael Stapleton and Kelley Overton have joined its management team as vice president of regional sales and director of regional sales, respectively.
While Michael Stapleton has nearly 35 years in the transportation industry, his exposure to the industry actually began much earlier. The son of a traffic manager, Stapleton has been reading trade journals since he was 6 years old. He received his bachelor’s degree in Transportation from the University of Tennessee, spent 18 years in the LTL ranks, and then evolved into a top-producing sales and strategic planner during his 15 years at Qualcomm Omnitracs.
“I really admire the management team at SmartDrive, the technology they have developed and the culture they have created,” said Stapleton. “SmartDrive is blazing new trails with this program and I think it is the next big thing in the industry to help make fleets safer. It’s very exciting to be a part of it.”
Kelley Overton brings 28 years experience in the technology, trucking and transportation industries to SmartDrive. A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, where he received his bachelor’s degree, Overton’s track record of success in leading growth-focused sales teams was proven at companies such as Comdata and Qualcomm Omnitracs.
“As industry veterans, Mike and Kelley bring a deep understanding of the priorities of today’s fleets and share our commitment to improve safety while also improving the bottom line,” said Steve Mitgang, CEO of SmartDrive. “They have a track-record of partnering with fleets to successfully deploy innovative solutions, resulting in strong and productive customer relationships. We are thrilled to have them join our worldwide sales organization led by Mike Baker.”
