Bernalillo County, New Mexico, Selects Accela Civic Platform to Streamline Civic Processes, Engage Citizens and Offer Mobility Solutions
San Ramon, CA (PRWEB) January 14, 2014 -- Accela, Inc., the leading provider of civic engagement solutions for government agencies, announced today that Bernalillo County, New Mexico, replaced its existing Kiva solution with the Accela Civic Platform for Land Management. With a population of over 642,000, Bernalillo County is the most populous county in New Mexico. Located in central New Mexico, Bernalillo County is home to Albuquerque and serves as a major economic and cultural crossroads in the American Southwest. The county consists of an area of nearly 1200 square miles.
The Accela Civic Platform will give the County the ability to offer a number of services online to benefit both residents and agency employees, in turn enhancing communication with citizens, reducing agency costs and streamlining key government processes. The public can now have access to plan review comments, inspection history, land data, interactive GIS maps and can easily generate reports of newly created record permits and activities based on record and time parameters selected by the user. Today, agencies of all sizes are turning to the Accela Civic Platform to manage functions related to Land Management, Licensing, Asset Management, and Public Health and Safety.
“We were looking for a more up-to-date technology solution to help us provide more efficient services to our citizens, while enhancing productivity for employees in the office and in the field,” said Rene Sedillo, Planning and Development Technology Manager for Bernalillo County. “The Accela Civic Platform gives us additional functionality to support document review and GIS capabilities in addition to mobile apps, and is aligned with our commitment to provide transparency and robust online services for our constituents. Plus, we can easily add and deploy additional solutions in the future.”
Specifically, Bernalillo County leverages the following capabilities:
Accela Citizen Access™: A cost-effective way to move traditional counter and call center services to the web, providing citizens with easy and convenient multi-language online access to the County’s permitting, building, planning, public works and fire information and activities. By providing more self-service options, tasks that had previously taken days to complete can now take just hours, or even minutes, leaving Bernalillo County staff more time to focus on other job functions and leaving contractors, business owners, homeowners and other members of the community more time to attend to the demands of their busy schedules.
Accela Electronic Document Review (EDR): Provides a comprehensive enterprise project review and management system for regulatory documents, such as plans, architectural drawings and licenses, required in support of plan applications and renewals. EDR adds end-to-end management of electronic documents, assuring adherence to agency policies and codes.
Accela Mobile Office: Designed specifically for field use and leveraging the latest in mapping technology, Accela Mobile Office helps users create inspections, investigations, service requests, work orders and code enforcement cases as well as manage asset inventories and condition assessments from the field. Agency field workers will be supported by Accela GIS™, which integrates Esri ArcGIS for Server maps with Accela Automation.
Accela GIS: Provides a robust solution for leveraging agency geospatial data to improve decision-making and streamline processes. Accela GIS provides a geographic view of all land-use, zoning, and infrastructure information associated with parcels, permits, inspections, code cases, assets, work orders, or service requests.
“We’re pleased that Bernalillo County is joining a growing group of long-standing Accela customers upgrading to the Accela Civic Platform,” said Maury Blackman, Accela President and CEO. “This is another great example of how government agencies can leverage a complete platform to improve customer service and increase economic vitality.”
