ASQ Names 24 Fellows for Contributions to Quality
Milwaukee, Wis. (PRWEB) January 14, 2014 -- Twenty-four ASQ members have completed the rigorous process and have been named ASQ Fellows for contributing to the advancement of quality. The new Fellows will be recognized at ASQ’s World Conference on Quality and Improvement in May 2014.
ASQ Fellows represent diverse industries on a global scale. The 2014 Fellows come from companies and organizations such as Hewlett-Packard Co., Honeywell Technical Solutions Inc., Procter & Gamble Co. and Shell Oil Co. ASQ currently has more than 600 active Fellows.
“ASQ Fellows have an exceptional commitment to making our world work better through quality,” said ASQ Chair Stephen Hacker. “They’re passionate about sharing their time, ideas and expertise — in their communities and globally. These men and women are today’s leaders of the quality movement.”
According to ASQ bylaws, Fellow membership status may be awarded to those individuals who have been ASQ members in good standing and meet the following criteria:
• Have at least 15 years of quality-related experience.
• Achieve requirements across six professional categories.
• Are sponsored by peers and endorsed by their ASQ section and/or division.
• Have been a Senior member for five years or longer.
The new Fellows will be honored at a ceremony at ASQ’s World Conference on Quality and Improvement held May 5–7 in Dallas, Texas, USA.
The 2014 ASQ new Fellows, in alphabetical order, are:
Randy G. Aschbrenner, Rockwell Collins, Cedar Rapids, Iowa — For exceptional commitment to the quality industry with significant contributions in distribution, manufacturing, education, software, supply chain activities and for continuing to volunteer as a Senior member of ASQ.
Thomas G. Berstene, WorkForce Planning Associates, South Windsor, Conn. — For exceptional, dedicated service to ASQ and the Hartford Section 0103; and for leadership and commitment to the field of human performance technology that has benefitted both ASQ and society.
Bryan T. Blunt, Quality Works Consulting LLC, Eloy, Ariz. — For outstanding leadership and distinction in advancing operational excellence; and for significant contributions in facilitating quality tools deployment and quality problem-solving empowerment in the aerospace industry.
William A. Brenneman, Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati — For outstanding contributions in advancing quality through original theory and techniques in experimental design, analysis, robust parameter design, process optimization, and quality assessment; for collaborations that bridge industry and academe; for advancing statistical thinking in his company through an internal statistics curriculum; and for service to the profession.
Belinda Chavez, Honeywell Technical Solutions Inc., Columbia, Md. — For meritorious contributions in quality management and assurance activities that include requirements development and acceptance of compliant products in multinational environments; for devoted member unit leadership, management, education and mentoring; and for professional competence in continuous improvement activities.
Javed Muhammad Iqbal Cheema — Eaton Aerospace, Jackson, Mich. — For outstanding leadership and commitment to promoting quality management and engineering methodologies to diverse audiences as a teacher, popular speaker and author; and for exerting ASQ section and division influence and recognition around the world.
Scott A. Clary, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, Orlando, Fla. — For outstanding application of quality in electromechanical engineering; for leadership in project management and coordination of improvement teams; and for contributions to quality education in the fields of engineering, operations research and management science.
Trevor Craney, Shell Oil Co., Houston — For outstanding leadership in reliability activities in ASQ; for significant contributions to the subject matter of statistics and reliability; and for professional competence in quality and reliability engineering.
Elizabeth A. Cudney, Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla, Miss. — For outstanding leadership, professionalism and exceptional contributions to the advancement of quality and lean in education and the manufacturing industry through the structure and development, design of course content, publication of many papers and editing of the “Quality Management Forum.”
David S. Foxx, DSF Consulting LLC and Foxx Solutions, St. Augustine, Fla. — For exceptional contributions developing, promoting and inspiring the advancement of quality practices across diverse industries including commercial organizations and government agencies; for the development of innovative application of quality methods; for prompting the advancement of others through mentoring, academia, and continual support to the Society as a speaker, contributor and leader.
Edwin Garro, PXS Performance Excellence Solutions, San José, Costa Rica — For his leadership and commitment in helping many Central American professionals attain an ASQ certification; and for introducing open lean and Six Sigma training in the region that led to world-class quality and excellence initiatives for local and multinational companies in Central American countries.
Christopher L. Grachanen, Hewlett-Packard Co., Houston — For outstanding leadership in the worldwide metrology community by championing the ASQ Certified Calibration Technician program; for authoring and distributing free, globally used software; for co-authoring “The Metrology Handbook and Metrology Human Resources Handbook;” for authoring scores of articles and making presentations; and for the benefit of disseminating metrology knowledge.
Douglas Allen Hlavacek, Ecolab Inc., St. Paul, Minn. — For outstanding contributions in advancing process understanding and product/service quality through the use of statistical thinking and statistical methods; for the creation and delivery of hands-on education encompassing the philosophy and tools of continuous improvement; and for providing exemplary leadership and service to the Statistics Division.
Jerry Mairani, Mairani & Associates, Sacramento, Calif. — For outstanding local, regional, and national leadership in the quality profession since the 1980s; for being the pre-eminent quality professional; and for applying his expertise for the good of organizations and people.
Mark A. Morris, M and M Consulting LLC, Pinckney, Mich. — For his dedication to the quality profession and specifically for his leadership as section chair and education chair of the ASQ Ann Arbor section; for frequent presentations at section meetings and national conferences; and for teaching geometry courses at the university level.
Peter E. Pylipow, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care Inc., Jacksonville, Fla. — For outstanding contributions in the quality field through published articles; for service to ASQ through the “Quality Progress” Editorial Review Board; for contributions to the quality profession while demonstrating unwavering dedication to colleagues and end users in the photographic and medical device industries.
Christine M. Robinson (recognized posthumously), Deborah Hopen Associates Inc., Federal Way, Wash. — For outstanding service to ASQ and the quality profession; and for work as a practitioner, consultant, teacher and author, introducing the concepts and tools of quality to many organizations and people that resulted in improved performance and customer satisfaction.
Gideon I. Roth, Cabiran Ltd., Kibbutz Cabri, Israel — For outstanding leadership and contributions for promoting professionalism in the quality movement in Israel; and for establishing and developing relations between Israel and other international quality societies and interest groups.
Rajesh Sharma, Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati — For outstanding, sustained leadership, innovation, and development of quality systems, methodologies, and training across a variety of business and products that have contributed significantly to the quality and success of organizations on an international level.
James R. Simpson, JK Analytics, Niceville, Fla. — For outstanding contribution and distinction in the field of quality and applied statistics as an educator, researcher and manager; and for exemplary leadership in ASQ divisions, journals and publications.
Anshuman Tiwari, HSBC Data Processing India, Bangalore, India — For his persistence and diligence in implementing quality principles and practices in India; for writing about quality leadership; for developing performance excellence assessment models; for assessing a range of organizations on performance excellence criteria; and for leading the establishment of ASQ in India.
Kwok Leung Tsui, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong — For outstanding academic achievements and distinction in the field of quality; for significant contributions to robust parameter design, statistical process control, data mining and industrial statistics; for his leading role in the interface between statistics and quality engineering; and for pre-eminent service to the profession at the highest level.
Hemant Urdhwareshe, Institute of Quality and Reliability, Pune, India — For significant contribution in promoting quality in the Indian industry; for motivating individuals to commit to quality and helping them to acquire quality skills to achieve ASQ certifications; for spreading the message of quality by sharing his expertise through books on Six Sigma and TQM, and through many articles and presentations.
Ver-Non T. Wakefield, Ballastrae, Nashville, Tenn. — For outstanding achievements and contributions that have advanced and promoted the use of quality and engineering principles for strategic advantage in industry; for significant contributions at both the section and division levels; and for continued dedication to ASQ and the quality profession.
