Grand Rapids Dentist to Showcase Sugar-Free Xylitol Candies at Michigan Dental Association’s Annual Convention and Trade Show April 30-May 3, 2014
Grand Rapids, MI (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- Dr. John Bruinsma, a Grand Rapids dentist, will be showcasing his own sugar-free, naturally-sweetened candies at the Michigan Dental Association’s Annual Convention April 30th through May 3rd at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids.
The Annual Session features the latest dental products, services, and technologies with over 200 exhibitors displaying their latest offerings. Continuing education courses and professional sessions are also being offered throughout the event where dental professionals can gain additional knowledge and information about the dental industry.
Dr. John’s Candies is a Michigan-based candy company owned and operated by Bruinsma, a local practicing dentist and his wife Debra, a dental hygienist. They have created a line of great-tasting sweet treats that are sugar-free and made with natural flavors, colors and the natural sweetener xylitol. Their line of products includes chocolates, gum, drink mixes, hard and soft candies, and their famous lollipops, including the latest tooth-shaped pops.
Dr. John’s Candies was started after the dental professionals were hard-pressed to find quality, sugar-free products to recommend to their own dental patients. After researching other manufacturers, the Bruinsmas’ opted to create their own candies using the beneficial natural sweetener known as xylitol. Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that is naturally derived from a variety of plants. The Dr. John’s Candies line of products use Birch Xylitol produced in the United States.
Xylitol is beneficial to good oral health. Dr. Bruinsma’s research indicated that dose-specific amounts of xylitol can help reduce the amount of dangerous bacteria in the mouth that leads to cavities. By consuming the recommended dosage of xylitol as found in the Dr. John’s Candies Simply Xylitol Plan, consumers can swap their sweets for healthier treats and, at the same time, generate more saliva to help fend off cavity-causing bacteria.
Dr. Bruinsma sells his products through the Dr. John’s Candies website http://www.drjohns.com and hopes to establish retail sales in the very near future. “We are first and foremost happy to give our patients something they cannot get anywhere else. Our unique line of products certainly brings a smile to their faces, especially the kids who are overjoyed who learn that our candy can actually be good for their teeth, in the right amounts. We have been busy attending conventions around the country to promote our unique products and introducing our line of Michigan-produced treats to health professionals as an alternative for their patients with dietary restrictions.”
Many of Dr. John’s Candies are also gluten and dairy-free so they can be enjoyed by diabetics, people that require kosher products, and people in general that want sweets but can’t have the sugar. Consumers and health professionals can view the products online or can place an order by calling toll-free at 888-375-6462.
