New York Capacity Business Consulting CEO to Lead Dutchess County WEDC Entrepreneurial Follow Up Program at Marist College
Poughkeepsie, NY (PRWEB) January 17, 2014 -- WEDC is a non-profit business development organization, providing men and women with the skills, tools and resources they need to start and grow successful businesses since 1997. WEDC is one of 114 U.S. SBA Women Business Centers and a N.Y.S Entrepreneurial Assistance Program center. WEDC-MHV represents the most recent expansion of the organization’s programs and services. Located in The Hancock Center at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, the WEDC-MHV Satellite gives residents of the seven Mid-Hudson Valley counties—Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester—access to high-quality, low-cost business and technical training programs. WEDC-MHV also provides information on disaster relief and preparedness to help minimize the effects of natural disasters on the regional business community.
WEDC-MHV believes in the important role that small businesses in the Mid-Hudson Valley play as job creators. WEDC-MHV provides male and female entrepreneurs and business owners with the training and support they need to begin and expand new ventures or their existing small business, and achieve economic self-sufficiency. Most programs are free. All are open to both men and women at various stages of business development, across all business sectors.
The first offering is a free “First Steps” program. This is a short course designed for anyone who needs to develop his/her business ideas. Attendees learn about the various facets of business ownership, what skills they will need to acquire, how WEDC-MHV can help them start or expand their business, and decide if the world of business is right for them.
For those who decide to move forward, WEDC-MHV provides WEDC’s signature 60Hour Business Training Program (60Hour BTP), which gives new and existing small business owners a thorough introduction to planning, establishing and operating a business. We provide instruction on a broad array of topics, including: business structures, management, finance, marketing, accounting, credit, insurance, computer and social media training, and how to write and present detailed and professional business plans.
Michael Smith, an analyst for Capacity Business Consulting will be assisting in the First Steps Program and Eric will be leading the Peer Exchange Program (PEP) for recent graduates of the 60 Hour Program. This post-graduate program focuses on setting goals and objectives, developing realistic action plans, addressing obstacles, tracking progress, and celebrating successes.
“It is my personal mission, and Capacity’s, to decrease the failure rate of startups and small business. For us, creating successful businesses is simple because it’s a methodical process we do every day. But the vast majority of entrepreneurs just wing it either because it’s too difficult to do it right or they don’t know any better,” says Eric Egeland, CEO of Capacity. “We are thrilled to be assisting a Hudson Valley, Dutchess County enterprise who feels the same way.”
Lea Bishop, Director of the WEDC-MHV had this to say, “We welcome Eric and Capacity Business Consulting to our team and are confident that, together, we will help entrepreneurs successfully start and grow their businesses."
