St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School announces Lisa Lyons, President of children’s publisher Kids Can Press, as featured speaker in the Women in Leadership of Exemplary Character speaker series.

St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School is pleased to announce that Kids Can Press President, Lisa Lyons will address the school’s senior students, alumnae, parents, faculty and staff as this year’s second speaker at the Women in Leadership of Exemplary Character speaker series. St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School parents and alumnae, as well as media, are invited to join senior girls (S2-S6) students for Lisa Lyons keynote address followed by refreshments and an intimate Question & Answer session. The event will be held at St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School, the premier independent all-girls' school from Preschool to Grade 12, located in the heart of Olde Oakville, 1080 Linbrook Rd, on Monday, December 16, 2013 scheduled to commence at 8:30am in the Dining Hall.

As the second speaker in this year’s Women in Leadership of Exemplary Character speaker series, Lisa Lyons is a shining example of the qualities, character and personal success that can be achieved by the students of St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School. Under President Lisa Lyons’ leadership and direction Kids Can Press, the largest Canadian-owned children’s publisher in the world, consistently delivers high-quality print books to parents, teachers, librarians and children around the world while adapting to the ever changing publishing landscape by offering a complement of digital products, creating successful strategic partnerships, and broadening promotional opportunities. In addition to her career accomplishments, Lisa is a Member of the Board of Trustees Executive Committee, Co-Chair Development Committee for the Ontario Science Centre, a Member, Digital Economy Advisory Committee with Canadian Women in Communications, and is a Member, Book Industry Advisory Committee with Ontario Media Development Corporation.

The St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School 2013-2014 speaker series Women in Leadership of Exemplary Character will feature remarkable women representing fields in media, economics, business and arts. Each woman featured in the series is celebrated as one of Canada’s most powerful and influential leaders in their respective field. The theme for this academic year’s series is "character" and the school has invited four special speakers who portray this trait perfectly. The first guest in this exciting Speaker Series was Molly Johnson, Juno Award winning jazz singer/songwriter and Officer of the Order of Canada on December 16th , followed by Lisa Lyons, President of Kids Can Press on January 27, 2014, Amanda Lang, Sr. Business Correspondent with CBC News on April 3, 2014, and lastly Lisa Lisson, CEO of FedEx on April 14, 2014.
