Practical Data Solutions (PDS) has named Russell J. Hendrickson to succeed Stephan R. Brown as CEO. Hendrickson joined PDS in 2000 as Vice President of Sales and was later named the President of PDS in 2007. Throughout his leadership tenure, Hendrickson’s vision and ability to execute has enabled the company to develop analytical, reporting and dashboard technologies used by academic medical centers, health systems, and large physician practices across the country.
“Russell shares my commitment and values in serving our prestigious client base and leading the PDS staff of talented and dedicated employees,” says Stephan Brown, the founder of PDS who is retiring 18 years after the company’s inception.
During the early years when Brown first started PDS, reporting was frequently packaged with the platform of the billing vendor, and warehouse schemas typically mirrored the transactional data in the system. The PDS approach involves modeling the transactional data in a star schema structure, and healthcare organizations quickly began incorporating the PDS data marts into best practice business analytics and reporting for performance management. “When Russell joined PDS, we really started getting tremendous traction and growth, and we have worked in sync ever since,” says Brown.
“I am pleased to be taking over the role as CEO. PDS has never been in a stronger position to execute and grow market share. The healthcare industry is generating tremendous volumes of data at exponential rates. Market trends to tie reimbursement to quality and outcomes will continue to grow demand for data modeling and robust analytics. This is where we shine,” says Hendrickson.
PDS offers reporting and analytics solutions for Epic, GE, Allscripts, NextGen, Meditech, Great Plains and other healthcare applications. Since PDS models are typically coded in Microsoft SQL or Oracle, clients can build or customize them to meet their changing needs. PDS data marts are star schema in design and accelerate data warehousing, business intelligence and dashboarding initiatives.
