(PRWEB UK) 20 January 2014
According to an article called “Indie apprehends shoplifters thanks to CCTV footage” published in ToyNews on the 14th of January, 2014, an independent toy shop owner in Wells was able to apprehend a couple who were caught on CCTV attempting to steal a playmobil toy submarine.
The CCTV footage allegedly sees the pair pick up a box on their way out of the shop, shortly followed by the shop owner, who allegedly followed them down the street shouting after them to return the product.
The shop owner, Lee Borastero, was able to retrieve the toy and has issued a warning to the couple that ‘if I ever saw them in my shop again, I would call the police’. He went on to mention that had the product not been recovered, it would have damaged his profit margins. He was able to use the CCTV to report the crime to the police who are now looking for the perpetrators.
AlertSystems have a keen interest in all CCTV and business security related news, and as such are always looking out for interesting cases. A spokesperson for the company commented on the case –
‘Mr. Borastero rightly believes that commercial security systems are comparatively inexpensive. When you consider that the set-backs you might endure as a result of not having security, CCTV security systems are an obvious and necessary investment.
‘A loss of £21 one day might not seem like much, but if losses of this size continue to happen, it soon mounts up. As Mr. Borastero says, this is the last thing high street shops need when competing with internet stores. CCTV security systems can effectively assist to eliminate high street theft’
