Boston.com Sports has joined Fancred, a sports social network that helps fans share news, insights, and opinions about their favorite teams, players, and leagues, Boston.com Sports editor Matt Pepin announced today.
A startup based in Kendall Square and a standout in the TechStars Boston program, Fancred has more than 2,000 team-specific communities. Of those communities, the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins have four of the largest team communities on Fancred.
Fancred’s iPhone app lets fans build up points to show just how much sports knowledge they’ve got.

Fancred users should keep eyes out for sneak peeks at Boston.com content before it even hits our site," said Pepin. Boston.com Sports is already a well-established destination for Boston’s famously intense fan base, covering baseball, football, basketball, hockey, soccer, college and high school sports – and including Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, Patriots and more.
