Yaron A. Moshel, MD, PhD, Joins Atlantic NeuroSurgical Specialists (ANS)
Moristown,NJ (PRWEB) January 20, 2014 -- Yaron A. Moshel, MD, PhD, recently joined Atlantic NeuroSurgical Specialists (ANS). Dr. Moshel is known in the medical community for his approach to removing brain tumors and uses technology including computer-guided navigation, awake functional brain mapping, endoscopy, and microsurgery. There are only a select few surgeons nationally who specialize in removing some of these deep-seated brain tumors.
“Many surgeons are hesitant to remove a tumor if it’s too close to eloquent brain structures that control vision, language, body movements, or other higher cognitive powers that would result in a significant loss of function,” says Dr. Moshel. “My approach is different. I map out critical structures of the brain to avoid these areas. By doing this, I am able to remove all or most of the tumor otherwise considered inoperable. This makes a huge difference in the patient’s outcome.”
Dr. Moshel is the 11th neurosurgeon on staff for the practice and joins ANS from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery. With many clinical interests and his neurosurgical ability extending beyond the treatment of brain tumors, Dr. Moshel specializes in the surgical treatment of skull base, pituitary, and spine tumors using the latest techniques in computer-guided surgical navigation, minimally invasive endoscopy, microsurgery, and stereotactic radiosurgery. He also has expertise in the surgical treatment of epilepsy in minimally invasive treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. Dr. Moshel also maintains an active clinical practice in cervical spine surgery, Chiari malformations, degenerative spine disease, and minimally invasive spine surgery.
