CSI’s Gurnee Campus To Hold Special Mental Health Workshops in January
Gurnee, Illinois (PRWEB) January 20, 2014 -- Computer Systems Institute (CSI) is holding two Mental Health Workshops at its Gurnee campus on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at noon and 6 p.m. in the Orientation Room. Both sessions are designed to help students dealing with various stress issues. Additional mental health workshops will be presented every other Tuesday to provide ongoing information and mental health education for those in need.
In August 2013, CSI established a Mental Health Clinic that provides free counseling services to students on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The Mental Health Workshops serve as an introduction to the clinic as well as an outreach service for students dealing with various pressures while attending CSI’s eight-month career programs in healthcare, technology and business administration. These pressures can result in anxiety, low self-esteem, or difficulty dealing with previous traumatic life experiences.
Clinic Services are currently being staffed by two graduate level mental health clinicians, Amelia Justice and John Walsh, provided by Chicago’s School of Professional Psychology. CSI students can meet with either professional in a confidential environment. The program has garnered enthusiasm from CSI instructors, several of whom have requested in-class presentations by Justice or Walsh to address topics such as stress, memory, low self-esteem and test anxiety.
