AllCar Rent-A-Car announced today that they will be an official supporter and sponsor for this year’s “A Shared Dream,” tribute to Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. presented by New York State Senator Kevin Parker, in partnership with A Shared Dream Foundation and New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, the 9th annual celebration will take place at Brooklyn College, inside the Walt Whitman Theater on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday January 20th.
The annual MLK tribute is open to the community for free and will include performances in spoken word, dance and music. Featuring JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise this year’s celebration brings together churches, ministries, community leaders and youth from all over the borough.
This will be the third year that AllCar has officially sponsored the event, however it likely won’t be the company’s last. “We’re very excited to play a role in this important event. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an extraordinary man. It is a great honor to help commemorate his life and legacy by participating in the A Shared Dream tribute.”
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the first act taking to the stage roughly a half hour later. A special guest gospel recording artists is expected to appear at some point in the night, as are various community leaders.
“It’s sure to be an inspirational event,” said Gil Cygler. "I know I speak for a lot of people when I say I’m looking forward to the evening.”
