According to an article published by the Ilford Recorder titled ‘£71k CCTV scheme launched to catch criminals at Hainault Business Park’ posted on the 14th of January, 2014, Hainault Business Park has been the target of frequent theft, burglary and vandalism and in an attempt to counteract the criminal activity that occurs in the area, Redbridge Council has endeavoured to install CCTV and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) technologies.
The scheme has seen CCTV security systems upgraded, whereas before the systems were unable to even distinguish the characters on number plates in order to identify cars, the new ANPR software is able to both distinguish the characters with its higher definition and it also records the number plates.
Leading commercial security systems provider, AlertSystems, like to keep an eye on all news security related. A spokesperson for the company commented on the new security systems –
‘Without the necessary precautions in place, an industrial estate can frequently be a highly concentrated area of criminal activity. Small businesses usually have vulnerable assets that can be points of interest for an opportunistic criminal. With more improved commercial security systems available all the time, it is increasingly easy to improve security.
‘It is welcome that whole industrial estates are taking the necessary precautions to reduce the crime in their area. Businesses can suffer severely at the hands of crime and CCTV security systems can make substantial difference when protecting your assets.’
