Anne M. Wedge-McMillen Brings Over 14 Years of Criminal Defense Experience to Orlando Law Firm

Anne M. Wedge-McMillen has over 14 years’ experience to offer any client, especially in the area of criminal law. She is a former Assistant Statewide Prosecutor for the Attorney General and Assistant State Attorney has recently joined the ranks of The Umansky Law Firm in Orlando Florida where she will practice criminal defense including Rico, White Collar, Trafficking, Sex Crimes, Theft, Drugs and a multitude of other cases.


Ms. Wedge-McMillen graduated cum laude from The University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in English and as a member of the Arts and Sciences and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies. She graduated in 1999 from the Florida State University College of Law as a member of the Order of Barristers with the Moot Court team. Ms. Wedge-McMillen received the Book Award for first in class at the Oxford University, in Oxford England in Comparative Criminal Procedure and the Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award for her work in law school, counseling domestic violence survivors and assisting them in obtaining temporary and permanent injunctions. Ms. Wedge-McMillen is admitted to practice in the Florida Courts.


Ms. Wedge-McMillen has developed an expertise in the last five years regarding all aspects of pharmaceutical diversion. Ms. Wedge-McMillen has a unique understanding of the regulatory and criminal investigations commonly referred to by law enforcement as "Pill Mill" investigations. She has worked with and advised the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Florida Department of Health, the Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Investigative Unit, the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation in Orlando, Florida and multiple state and federal law enforcement task forces in this complex area of law and medicine. She has worked on state and federal investigations concerning national and international smuggling of controlled substances, human growth hormone, and anabolic steroids.

Ms. Wedge-McMillen has taught dozens of classes regarding state and federal healthcare and controlled substance laws including presentations for the Florida Department of Health, the Florida Prosecuting Attorney's Association, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Attorney General's Office of Statewide Prosecution.

Ms. Wedge-McMillen was an adviser to the Statewide Grand Jury regarding Gangs in 2008-2009 and assisted in training law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies around the state of Florida in understanding Florida's gang laws and the use of RICO to prosecute gangs and other organized crime groups. She has supervised and litigated dozens of wiretap investigations involving organized crime, and has been an independently contracted instructor teaching gang, wiretap and racketeering law to state and federal law enforcement agencies in Florida, Georgia, New York, Texas, Tennessee, and Nevada among others.

Ms. Wedge-McMillen is active in the legal community as a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers She is also a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization or PEO, a woman's group focused on supporting educational opportunities for woman nationally and internationally. Her experience in the criminal justice system gives her the credibility and ability to represent the clients of The Umansky Law Firm.
