In his new executive role at Genesis, Maxwell is responsible for increasing the Company’s footprint within Corporate Diversity sectors, business development platform-wide for all of the Genesis family of companies, Strategic Planning, and improving execution tactics and programs within the Sales, Operations, and Marketing arenas. He will also be responsible for developing and implementing business strategies to include Profit and Loss management that significantly impacts ROI. Maxwell will also bring to bear his substantial experience and success in developing and maintaining long-term strategic business relationships with national and regional groups, mortgage and real estate professionals, asset management and property preservation companies, hedge funds, institutional investors, servicers, and other centers of influence. “As we strategically expand our business lines and move in other directions as a company, appointing Don to our Executive Team was the natural progression. He brings a wealth of real estate and financial services knowledge and years of experience to our firm and we are excited to have him,” said Trixy Castro-Weiss, President/CEO and Co-Founder of Genesis.
Prior to joining Genesis, Maxwell held executive leadership positions at 24 Asset Management, Executive Asset Management and Asset Serve Management, where he led efforts to increase the minority lending practices of several mortgage companies by building start up multi-cultural lending divisions, introducing sales and operational disciplines throughout the organizations, and developing strategic plans for partnerships with various entities across the country.
Most notably, he worked for the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae) for over 12 years in a number of positions. As Director of Marketing, and Single Family Mortgage Business, Don was responsible for developing and leading the company's sales and marketing efforts with the underserved lenders. His efforts included attending and sponsoring ten national and regional conferences with local and national trade groups. He also increased business opportunities for trusted advisors and lenders by delivering an estimated of $4.5 billion in loan production, comprised of 27,000 loans.
Genesis is a real estate services firm that focuses on asset disposition and leverage solutions for the professional Real Estate investor. Genesis operates a unique auction platform whose membership is comprised of an exclusive pool of vetted, highly experienced and qualified professional buyers of real estate. The platform has the ability to dispose of a variation of asset classes, from privately held properties to bank-owned REOs, to Recently Foreclosed and Title Impaired assets. These quality properties are tailored specifically for the professional buyer of all sizes to source and transact in high volume, and for sellers to achieve rapid liquidation and efficient closings. All auctions are performed online, allowing easy access to buyers and sellers all over the world. In addition, Genesis extends private money leverage to its base of buyers, allowing them to increase their purchasing power. Genesis’ lending platform is currently expanding operations from primarily California based, to a national presence.
“The real estate marketplace is an exciting place to be,” says Maxwell. “The roller coaster ride of decreasing property values, and then record low interest rates over the past five years, has made auctions very appealing to investors, because they can, very quickly, achieve cost efficiencies and a strong brand identity,” he said. In fact, according to the National Auctioneers Association, auctions have increased approximately 10% a year since the early 2000s. “The market is definitely coming back”, says Maxwell, “because we’re still dealing with a backlog of inventory of many foreclosed homes, in the middle of an improving economy. So the country is seeing a huge increase in the demand for real estate auctions. I am very pleased to be a part of a company on the cutting edge of this trend, like Genesis. And as an additional component of our growing portfolio, we offer private-money financing for highly-qualified and experienced investors in the growing REO market”
“Whether the single-family market grows from a $10 to $20 billion market to a $100 to $200 billion market, will depend on how successfully investors are able to execute over the next few years,” stated Weiss. “Our ability to target highly qualified professional buyers, drive multiple and expeditious sales below market value, and increase probability of closings, means we will continue to play a major part in the growth of this segment”.
