2014 Super Bowl Fans Scream Foul at Inflated Hotel Rates
(PRWEB) January 22, 2014 -- Vakast, an online vacation rental site company, announced today that it’s receiving a high volume of inquiries for vacation rental properties located near the 2014 Super Bowl being held at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday, February 2nd. Whether staying in New York or closer to the action in East Rutherford, travelers are stunned by inflated hotel rates. It is widely known and expected that hotels increase their rates during peak seasons and for major events. However, rates for the 2014 Super Bowl are not slightly inflated, they are approximately three to ten times higher than normal. As an example, the average rate for a well-known, two-star hotel is $94 per night for a standard room. Yet the Super Bowl rate for the same room, as reported on November 20, 2013 by Street & Smith’s Sports Business Daily is, “$900, an “857% increase over its normal rate.” While this rate is egregious, more than a dozen hotels near the MetLife Stadium have followed suit. Another widely-known hotel with a seasonal rate of $127 for a standard king room, is charging guests $902, while in Jersey City, a low rated economy hotel is listing its standard room at $700 per night, a 600% increase over normal rates.
To date, Vakast aggregates more than one million vacation rental homes, condos, cottages and rooms worldwide, including 20,000+ vacation rental properties located throughout New Jersey and New York. This is good news for the 2014 Super Bowl travelers who are in need of more space and more reasonably priced accommodations. It is also a great opportunity for the company to inform consumers about the numerous benefits of vacation rentals and their advantages over hotels. Such advantages include; more space, top-notch amenities and the ability to share costs among large groups, families and friends. Unlike hotels that set their rates approximately a year in advance, many vacation rental owners are open to negotiate rates with prospective renters.
“We are continuously working to improve our customer experience,” stated Vakast CEO, Huan Truong. “Visitors can now type in their destination, desired dates and almost instantaneously receive numerous property descriptions, images and rates without leaving the page.”
Today, vacation rentals are not just a trend or an alternative for vacationers; it’s a $100 billion industry that is continuing to grow. “As we’ve learned through countless reports and research, the appeal of vacation rentals goes far beyond the need for consumers to obtain better rates, more space and amenities,” stated Vakast CFO, Tam Nguyen. “It’s an opportunity for home and small business owners to earn extra income and strengthen our economy.”
With approximately 400,000 Super Bowl fans descending upon the New York and New Jersey areas, there are numerous vacation rental properties still available within 30 miles of the MetLife Stadium. Fans can rest comfortably without breaking the bank in Newark, New Jersey, New Jersey City, Manhattan and Union City.
Vakast: Incorporated in April of 2013 and based in Newport Beach, California, Vakast is a privately held company with more than a million vacation rental properties worldwide.
