Superbreak, the UK’s leading short break provider, has revealed that European cities are the most popular amongst customers this Valentine’s Day. Paris was the second most popular destination for Valentines weekend breaks this year, pushing Edinburgh down to third place.
The average number of nights indicate that many clients are taking advantage of the current 3 nights for 2 in Europe promotion the firm currently has on sale across its hotel only, Eurostar and flight breaks. The addition of the free River cruise has only served to strengthen the promotion.
Interestingly, sales over the Valentine’s weekend show revenue growth for European destinations such as Amsterdam, Bruges and Reykjavik, areas which have been supported by the additional of the firm’s flights and attractions programme.
Last year, UK city breaks destinations dominated the top 10 most booked destinations for Valentines booking window. This year, there has been a shift with overseas destinations dominating the top 10 destinations by over half.
With Valentines falling on a weekend this year, the short break tour operator has seen an increase in demand for breaks between the 14th and 16th February 2014, with search traffic over the past four weeks to the page up by 73 per cent year-on-year.
