Primary bone cancer is one of the rarest of cancers, with approximately 2,500 diagnoses annually. However, secondary bone cancer, caused by cancers in other parts of the body, is much more common. Bone cancer is quite painful and also causes fatigue, tenderness, and weight loss. Current research is directed to determining a genetic link to sufferers of this cancer. The Mayo Clinic and National Cancer Institute are two institutions focused on the problem of bone cancer.

Jimmy Johnson continues to establish the "Leading Edge with Jimmy Johnson" series as a major source of timely news and insight into the day's key issues and major developments. In this program, the focus is on the latest treatments, the status of research, and the prospects for a cure for bone cancer. With interviews of leading oncologists and cancer researchers, the viewer is provided with an understanding of why some medical personnel are encouraged about the growing number of treatment options. This insightful examination of the issue will be of particular interest to those who suffer from or have loved ones who suffer from Ewing's Sarcoma, chondrosarcoma or bone cancer caused by other cancers.

The Leading Edge is distributed to Public Television stations nationwide. The series is not distributed through PBS.
