ACF Car Finance has joined an elite of used car retailers to have won "Approved Dealership" status from the RAC following the network's launch less than a year ago.

It means that buyers of pre-owned vehicles from the company will now, at no extra cost, be given the protection of the RAC's BuySure scheme, launched simultaneously in 2013.

The package includes certification that the car has met rigorous quality and safety checks, carried out to the RAC's approved preparation standards.

In addition, the car's new owner will receive a six-month RAC warranty at the top platinum level, and three months of full RAC breakdown cover including "at home" and "onward travel."

ACF Car Finance became one of the first 80 dealers in the UK to be appointed as an "Approved Dealership" following an audit of its car quality and inspection processes by the RAC.

Amongst its findings was that ACF Car Finance was already providing a 136-point inspection process, exceeding the number of checks required to operate the BuySure scheme.

According to Mark Jones, Operations Manager at ACF Car Finance, the main benefit of RAC BuySure will be peace of mind for the customer:

"Our company's national team of vehicle buyers is extremely selective about the cars it acquires for re-sale, and chooses only models representing the best in their class," said Mr Jones.

"Even then, we undertake an exhaustive inspection covering all principal mechanical and electrical components, and just one percent are given a clean bill of health at this stage.

"The fact that the vast majority of cars require some kind of attention underlines the importance of our checks, and the thoroughness with which they are made," he said.

As well as the assurance that ACF Car Finance's inspections are RAC approved under the BuySure scheme, customers will now have the additional assurance of an RAC warranty.

The platinum-level scheme protects the buyer against costs of up to a thousand pounds for repairing or replacing covered components which fail.

Similar warranties, said Mr Jones, are normally offered by used car retailers as additional extras to the cost of the vehicle, which means many customers do not take up the option:

"The sophistication of modern cars means that, whilst they are less likely to break down, repair costs can be very steep - and for that reason, warranty protection can be seen as a wise move.

"That is why we are providing it free for the first six months of ownership when bills would be especially unwelcome, after which customers can extend the cover if they wish," added Mr Jones.

ACF Car Finance specialises in supplying used cars and arranging loans, via a national showroom network, to the growing number of people whose credit records affect their borrowing ability.
