Security Organization SafeWise Publishes Updated List of Top 50 Safest Communities in New Jersey

Levinson Axelrod, a personal injury law firm with offices throughout central New Jersey, is alerting New Jersey residents to rankings published by SafeWise listing the state’s 50 most secure communities based on crime data and safety initiatives.

The townships with the top ten rankings from highest to lowest included, respectively: Mahwah, Bergen County; Sparta, Sussex County; Warren, Somerset County; Washington, Morris County; Bernards, Somerset County; Dumont, Bergen County; Hopatcong, Sussex County; Bergenfield, Bergen County; Madison, Morris County; and Plainsboro, Middlesex County.

The SafeWise organization utilized 2011 FBI crime data and assessed additional security factors to rank each neighborhood, noted an article on Jan. 20, 2014. According to SafeWise, in order to qualify for the list, communities must have a minimum population of 15,000. Further commonalities of neighborhoods on this list include those with engaging recreational programming, community policing programs, and small business support initiatives.
