PodFund Announces New Crowdfunding Platform for Podcasters, Internet Radio, Film and Video Production

The first crowdfunding platform dedicated solely to new media is now accepting campaigns; pledges accepted starting March 3rd.

PodFund, a new crowdfunding platform for Internet audio and video content creators, is now accepting submissions for crowdfunding campaigns. Founded in December 2013, the company wants to help podcasters, Internet radio stations, film and videomakers raise funds to support their passion. The first fifteen campaigns submitted and approved will get prime visibility on PodFund’s home page when funding begins on March 3rd, 2014.

PodFund founder Robert Becker has a radio and freelance voiceover background, and understands the challenges new media creators face. “The Internet has completely changed media creation and consumption. Anyone can produce audio or video and reach their audience, but taking your project to the next level comes at a price,” says Becker. “We wanted to build a vehicle to help creators connect with their supporters and raise money to support their passion. Whether it’s for equipment, arranging meetups, or even to rally aid for a fan in need, as long as it relates back to web audio or video, PodFund is here to help.”

The company already has a number of campaigns presently under review. “We’ve already gotten an overwhelming response with word of mouth marketing on social media. PodFund offers flexible and all-or-nothing crowdfunding campaigns. All-or-nothing campaign owners set a goal and only collect funds if they meet their funding target. When flexible campaigns are chosen, campaign owners keep any funds raised, regardless of whether their goal is met. There is no cost to list a campaign; a small fee is only assessed when campaign owners successfully collect funds.

Campaigns can be submitted at the company’s website and will undergo a review process prior to being approved. PodFund uses WePay to securely process contributions from backers and to deliver funds to campaign owners; a WePay account is required before creating a campaign.
