Downers Grove, IL (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- EMNS, Inc., the supplier of GSQA®, (http://www.gsqa.com), has signed an agreement with Superior Silica Sands LLC, a subsidiary of Emerge Energy Services to provide the state-of-the-art supply chain quality management system GSQA®. Superior Silica Sands LLC, headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, is a leading supplier of high quality Northern White sand as well as native Texas sands for diverse applications.
In a year when American energy self-sufficiency created headlines from Reno to Riyadh, Superior Silica Sands found a way to accommodate increasing demand while doing the right thing. Energy companies are expected to use 56.3 billion pounds of sand this year, according to The Wall Street Journal, blasting it down oil and natural gas wells to help crack rocks and allow fuel to flow out.
Sand use has increased 25% since 2011, according to the consulting firm PacWest, which expects a further 20% rise over the next two years. A long-time provider of sand from four US mines, Superior Silica Sands has been experiencing 50% annual sales growth since these new techniques made energy production economical in vast stretches that had never seen a conventional oil well.
However, all of these new customers (and the federal and state agencies that regulate them) required more consistent and detailed Certificates of Analysis (COA) than ever before. A COA tells a company exactly where their sand came from and crucial information, like grain size, to prevent possible environmental and safety problems. In the past, producing these COAs was a laborious process for Superior Silica Sands' Customer Service Manager, so in mid-2012, she and the Sales Manager began looking for a better way.
They found it and in April of 2013 kicked off a project to begin using GSQA, a hosted, web-based service, to produce the COAs and instantly email them to their customers. By July, they were up and running at their two largest mines in Wisconsin and planning to roll it out to sites in Texas.
With GSQA, technicians at the mine directly enter their test results for each car load of sand into their GSQA website. The site instantly confirms that the load will meet customers’ physical and chemical requirements and produces a COA that is tailored to the look and format that the customer expects.
Customers who previously worried about not having the documentation they needed are now confident they’ll have it long before the shipment arrives. Auditors and regulators who need to confirm that drilling materials are safe for workers and the local environment can easily review the test results at any time.
Superior Silica Sands has found a way to manage their growth, while helping to ensure America’s energy future.
