MegayachtNews.com, the leading independent website with a strong reach into the American luxury-yacht market and with a growing influence internationally, is joining a broad group of other yachting-industry leaders as a co-host of the American Boating Congress.

Being held from May 5 to 7 in Washington, D.C., the American Boating Congress (ABC) is a comprehensive legislative conference that brings together recreational boating-industry leaders to formulate public policy and present a united front on issues that impact marine businesses. This year, driven by the success of ABC in 2013, MegayachtNews.com has agreed to co-host ABC, joining the rallying cry to strengthen the industry’s collective advocacy impact.

“While several companies representing the pleasureboat market are co-hosting ABC, MegayachtNews.com is one of just two co-hosts focused strongly on the megayacht market,” says Diane M. Byrne, editor of MegayachtNews.com. “The other is the U.S. Superyacht Association, an industry organization that MegayachtNews.com is proud to be a member of and therefore looks forward to collaborating with in regards to ABC.” Byrne continues, “In recent years, some policy makers on both state and federal levels have had their eyes opened to how vital the megayacht market is to our country, both as a manufacturing-related industry and as a consumer market. Some of the world’s best yacht builders, designers, and gear suppliers are in the United States. By co-hosting ABC this coming May, my goal is to strengthen the educational efforts, so that onerous legislation or even lack of action in other respects doesn’t get in the way of positive developments and economic growth.”

An engaging lineup of event speakers at ABC will feature an influential group of policy specialists and industry authorities, as well as legislative and regulatory officials. ABC co-hosts have committed themselves to growing the industry through public policy advocacy. Assembling from a wide variety of industry segments, these groups provide ongoing counsel and insight into what issues are of the most pressing interest to stakeholders and advocates, ensuring that ABC’s agenda will be packed with timely and relevant policy matters. Co-hosts will contribute to a dynamic dialogue during the event.

MegayachtNews.com plans to further raise awareness among consumers as part of its co-hosting of ABC, primarily through its strong social media channels. MegayachtNews.com has large followings on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+. It also has a subscriber-only monthly newsletter that goes out to more than 1,000 people. “In the January edition of our newsletter, I already alerted readers to our co-hosting status, and invited them to contact me and share their thoughts on issues of utmost concern,” Byrne says. “On top of this, while at ABC in May, I’ll be posting live updates and photos on Twitter and our other social media channels.”
