The overnight tour whisks travelers from Beijing to the Wall by campervan driven by a professional chauffeur, directed by a local Backyard Travel guide.
On the way to the Great Wall, the tour stops at another wall – the Three-North Shelter Forest Program in Guandi, nicknamed the ‘Green Great Wall’. Travelers can learn all about the initiative at a private meeting with a local official who will explain the project before giving a tour of one of the forest strips.
The tour then moves on to the main attraction – the Great Wall of China. Along with their expert Backyard Travel guide, travelers on the fully customizable tour will be driven to the Jiankou section of the magnificent wall where they can discover Tiandi the ‘Ladder to Paradise’ to take in the spectacular panoramic views over the surrounding plains.
In the evening travelers can enjoy a delightful barbecue before retiring to the safety of their comfortable campervan (which sleeps 5 persons) for a good night’s sleep.
The following morning they will embark upon a three-hour walk to the famous Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China, soaking up each and every moment of the experience on the way.
Before leaving the Wall behind, their Backyard Travel guide will then take them to enjoy a delicious lunch at a converted school. The restaurant is a socially responsible project and also doubles as an art glass studio. Once their stomachs are full with authentic food with ingredients sourced from local farmers, travelers will then sit back and relax as they are chauffeured back to Beijing.
“Visiting the Great Wall truly is a unique moment and one that stays in your mind forever,” said Backyard Travel’s General Manager Maeve Nolan. “We’ve put this tailor-made tour together to offer a short yet intensive experience of the Great Wall to give travelers more insight into the local environment as well as relish the wonder itself.”
