Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) January 30, 2014
Lumension®, a global leader in endpoint management and security, today announced that it has been recognized as a visionary in Gartner’s 2013 “Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms” for its product Endpoint Management and Security Suite (L.E.M.S.S.). This is the fourth consecutive year that Lumension and the single server, single agent, single console platform heralded by customers has been recognized by this prestigious security report.
For the purposes of this report, Gartner identifies an endpoint protection platform as a solution that provides a collection of security utilities to protect PCs, smartphones and tablets. According to Gartner, vendors in this market compete on the quality of their protection capabilities, the depth and breadth of features and the ease of administration.
In order to be included in this year’s Magic Quadrant for Endpoint protection, vendor solutions had to meet the following criteria: detection and cleaning of malware (for example, viruses, spyware, rootkits, trojans, worms), a personal firewall and an HIPS for servers and PCs; centralized management, configuration and reporting capabilities for all products evaluated in this research, sufficient to support companies of at least 5,000 geographically dispersed endpoints; global service and support organizations to support products.
“We are very pleased to be selected as a visionary in Gartner’s elite Endpoint Protection Platform Magic Quadrant for the fourth consecutive year,” said C. Edward Brice, senior vice president, worldwide marketing, Lumension. “As endpoint security threats increase in both volume and sophistication, we continuously strive to advance our suite in a way that is both effective against the bad guys and efficient for the business. We appreciate that both Gartner and our customers recognize our dedication.”
In the fifth annual 2014 State of the Endpoint report by Ponemon Institute and commissioned by Lumension, 71% of IT pros found endpoint security threats have been more difficult to stop/mitigate over the last 2 years. 65% reported falling victim to an advanced persistent threat, APT, in the last 12 months, up 55% since 2009, and malware incidents are on the rise – 41% of respondents reported more than 50 attempts each month. Organizations are fighting back however; 38% have deployed an integrated security suite and nearly half will have the technology within the next two years.
L.E.M.S.S. unifies the functions of IT operations and security through a single console, server and agent architecture to seamlessly and more effectively address IT risk and systems management requirements across the enterprise. The management and security suite delivers best-in-class capabilities across patch and vulnerability management, anti-virus, configuration management, power management, application control, device control, disk encryption and asset management.
The Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms was written by Peter Firstbrook, John Girard and Neil MacDonald and published January 8, 2014. Gartner's ID number for the report is G00247705. Gartner clients can access the report from gartner.com.
