Zaloni, a leading provider of peerless Hadoop software and services solutions, today announced that Dhruba Borthakur has been appointed Technical Advisor, and will become a member of the Zaloni Advisory Board.

Borthakur’s career in the technology industry spans almost 20 years, including successful roles at leading technology companies, including IBM, VERITAS, Oreceipt.com and Yahoo. Borthakur’s current focus is to design and develop RocksDB, a key-value store for multi-core processors and fast storage, at Facebook. He is one of the founding contributors for the Apache Hadoop Distributed File System, and has been associated with Hadoop since its inception. Borthakur has been instrumental in scaling Facebook’s Hadoop cluster to multiples of petabytes. He is also a contributor to the open source Apache HBase project. He has a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
