Culik Law Files Lawsuit in Suffolk Superior Court Against Staples For Giving Consumers' Computer To The Wrong Person
Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- On January 28, 2014, Culik Law filed a lawsuit on behalf of a consumer against Staples, Inc. in Suffolk Superior Court, Case No. SUCV2014-00310-A. The complaint filed with the court alleges that the office supply chain gave a customers' computer, which contained personal and business information, to an unknown party and then refused to track it down.
The complaint goes on to say that the customers brought their computer to Staples to have the computer backed up for security against data loss. But when they went to pick it up, Staples gave away the computer to the wrong person, apparently without asking for any identification.
The court documents also show that when the customers asked Staples to review the security tapes and try to identify the person, Staples refused to turn over any information. As a result, the customers were unable to take action to track down their computer. Contained on the computer was personal information, bank account records, and records relating to the customers’ businesses, all of which has now been lost.
“We allege in this complaint that Staples refused to respond to the letter we sent asking for their assistance with recovering the information and compensating the customers for their loss,” said the customers’ attorney, Josef Culik. “Further, we seek to show with this lawsuit that even after Staples became aware that the computer was given to the wrong person, it refused to rectify the damage done when given the chance to do so.”
