Marstan Press invests £1.4m in New Heidelberg 10 Colour Printing Press.

In February, they will take delivery of their latest investment – a new Heidelberg XL75 10 colour litho printing press. Now, in addition to being able to offer quality print to their existing markets, Marstan Press will also be able to service different clientele. The new press will be able to print on thicker substrates ideal for carton printing and comes with the option for “Hybrid Screening” which allows the press to print in High Definition, ideal for the fine art and jewellery markets.
Marstan Press was founded in 1954 by the late Stanley Lett. 60 years on the company has grown significantly and now provides litho and digital print services to companies across the UK. February will see the latest stage of the Bexleyheath company’s development when a new Heidelberg printing press is installed. The investment is necessary to allow the company to increase its capacity to meet customer demand. The new capital investment has been made possible thanks to finance provided by Close Asset Finance.
The new press is set to provide numerous benefits to the company and to its customers. Printing 15,000 double sided sheets per hour and making ready in just seven minutes, the press will provide 50% extra capacity and added reliability thanks to the fully service contract taken out with the press. Production Director Tony Chapman states, “As the current presses have got older we have had to spend more and more money to maintain them to a high standard. With the new press we won’t have these cost and we will benefit from improved reliability.”
Reliability and increased productivity are not only reasons for making the investment. The new press will be certified to the ISO12647-2 international colour standard after installation and will also come with a Hybrid Screening licence, allowing the company to target clients who demand the highest quality for their printed materials. Further market diversities is also a target of Marstan Press as the new press will be able to print on material up to 800 micron thick, opening up the carton packaging markets. Sales and Marketing Director Martin Lett Jnr enthuses, “This new machine will allow the sales team to target so many more customers. The super-fast make readies will make us very competitive on multi-section booklet work, whilst the inline colour management, the ISO12647-2 Certification and the Hybrid Screening are all ideal for clients requiring the highest quality.
