Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) is a school-to-career program implemented in high schools around the nation that encourages youth to complete their high school education and facilitates opportunities to advance their futures. Its mission is to provide “real world,” professional learning experiences to students that will lead to career advancement and/or postsecondary education after receiving their high school diplomas.
After lending their interview and resume expertise to JAG students at a career fair in June of 2013, members of the Indianapolis office of total recruitment provider PrincetonOne began working with JAG on the creation of a mentorship program for its junior and senior students. The program, which launched in October of 2013, consisted of four PrincetonOne team members meeting one-on-one with JAG students from Indianapolis Metropolitan High School on a monthly basis to discuss academic and professional objectives, create action plans for goal attainment, conduct mock interviews, provide resume advice and offer guidance.

According to recent studies, youth-focused mentorship programs can generate greater academic success and social acceptance, while reducing symptoms of depression. PrincetonOne participants hope their time spent working with JAG instilled confidence in the students and helped in the planning of their academic and professional futures.
