New Year, New Intermodal EXPO: Event Moves to September in 2014 as a Stand-Alone IANA Effort
Calverton, MD (PRWEB) January 27, 2014 -- The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) has announced a series of enhancements and additions to the Intermodal EXPO. Taking place Sept. 21-23 in Long Beach, Calif., the 2014 Intermodal EXPO will be a stand-alone event for the first time in 11 years. Plans are underway for increased opportunities for stakeholder interaction and more than double the number of educational sessions over previous years.
“The Intermodal EXPO has become one of the largest freight transportation events in North America since its inception over 25 years ago,” said Joni Casey, IANA president and CEO. “This year’s refocus on intermodal, combined with an emphasis on connections, dialogue, and education, will enhance the Intermodal EXPO’s value for our core audience and key intermodal stakeholders.”
IANA has established a partnership with the Association of American Railroads, FTR Associates and the Transportation Intermediaries Association to develop a series of industry-specific educational sessions that will be organized into topical tracks. Attendees will be able to customize their agenda to areas of specific interest.
An early indicator of stakeholder approval is the fact that over 60 percent of the exhibit space has already been sold. In addition to the expanded educational program, new industry partnerships, and increased networking opportunities, this year’s Intermodal EXPO will also host the West Coast Connie Awards dinner. Established in 1972 by the Containerization & Intermodal Institute, the Connie Award recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the evolution of containerized shipping and intermodalism.
