Potthast Brings More Than 20 Years of Experience to New Role

Sutter Care at Home, one of the largest not-for-profit home health care agencies in Northern California, has promoted Sally Potthast to Director of Sales and Community Relations. Potthast was previously the Home Health Sales Manager for Sutter Care at Home.

Potthast has worked at Sutter Care at Home for nearly five years. Throughout her tenure, she has managed community relations for Home Health and Home Infusion Services within the Sac-Sierra region, and more recently led the sales efforts of the Home Health Community Liaison team across the entire Sutter Health footprint.

“The addition of Sally Potthast to our leadership team will further diversify the outstanding talents and wide-ranging experience among our group,” said Maryellen Rota, chief operating officer of Sutter Care at Home. “Sally is a widely respected and deeply experienced business leader, and she will provide our management team with new insight and perspectives.”

Potthast’s promotion signals a structure change within Sutter Care at Home that will help coordinate community relations activities among service lines and mentor and strengthen the team’s skills and knowledge. All Sutter Care at Home community relations staff will now report to Potthast. This change will take place in a phased approach. One of Potthast’s initial responsibilities is to reorganize the home health and infusion services sales teams into one group. The hospice, home medical equipment/respiratory care and private care teams will continue to operate as is, but will now report to Potthast. In her new role, Potthast will appoint three service line team leads who will provide training and mentorship to their respective teams, contribute to special projects and be responsible for covering a specific territory, with the goal of further integrating the community relations department.

Prior to joining Sutter Care at Home, Potthast was a senior sales consultant with Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals. In this role, she managed the territory of 200 providers, marketing and selling more than five products to obstetricians, gynecologists and primary care physicians.

Before joining Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, Potthast served as an account manager at Her responsibilities included sales and the implementation and management of a medical e-procurement system for approximately 78 accounts.

Potthast earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from the University of California in Sacramento.
