Ann Arbor, Michigan (PRWEB) January 28, 2014

Sandlot Solutions, a physician-developed healthcare information technology company and White Pine Systems (dba SPINN), a leading provider of patient engagement solutions, today announced an agreement to offer White Pine’s SPINN Patient Engagement Platform to Sandlot’s HIE and ACO clients. SPINN will allow Sandlot to extend its technology that connects physicians and hospitals to the patient and family to meet Stage 2 Meaningful Use criteria and ultimately improve outcomes while lowering cost.

White Pine’s core patient engagement platform is called SPINN, the Secure Personal Information & Notification Network. Unlike other emerging patient engagement systems that present information in silos (e.g. conditions, medications, allergies, etc.), SPINN is organized around configurable dashboards and tools called "Care Units" that are designed for specific behavioral and physical health conditions such diabetes, COPD, palliative health, substance use disorder or pain management. These configurable Care Units result in a user experience that is easier, quicker and more relevant for each patient and care giver.

Each Care Unit incorporates not only clinical information from electronic health records but also clinical information from non-clinical sources including home and personal health information. In addition, each Care Unit leverages social media tools to improve social engagement to overcome traditional barriers that hinder participation in healthcare and health management. These Care Units have been shown to improve outcomes while improving operational efficiency.

"We are honored and excited to have this opportunity to work with Sandlot Solutions and bring our combined technology to this client," said Doug Dormer, White Pine’s founder and CEO. "Working with Sandlot, the SPINN platform allows all members of a group or Accountable Care Organization to meet Stage 2 Meaningful Use criteria through a single patient portal."

Sandlot Solutions offers community based, clinical interoperability products and services that allow healthcare providers access to patient information from disparate sources and formats. Sandlot Solutions provides true bidirectional alerts and data-exchange through the cloud, along with robust analytics and a proven health information exchange that connects the entire community.

"Our client was looking for a solution that was flexible and configurable," stated Joe Casper, Sandlot’s CEO. "SPINN is simple, powerful and a cost effective PHR. We are excited to partner with White Pine Systems."
