St. Louis Physician Alliance Moves Toward Clinical Integration
Saint Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- The St. Louis Physician Alliance (SLPA) is a physician-led clinically integrated network (CIN) of providers committed to delivering high quality care in an efficient, integrated manner to provide value for the people of St. Louis. SLPA believes that accountable, evidence-based, value-driven efforts will lead to a better health care system and that clinical integration around these principles is the best solution to the current crisis of increasing healthcare costs with a lack of clarity on the quality of care provided. SLPA members maintain their independent physician ownership structures while collaborating to improve health outcomes at the best cost.
Launched in early 2013, SLPA spent much of the past year recruiting high quality providers into the network while exploring opportunities with payors and employers. With 310 physician members representing primary care and 30 different medical and surgical specialties along with 52 facility members, SLPA is now moving forward with the key elements of achieving clinical integration which include strong physician governance and integrating providers for quality reporting while streamlining care for patients. Engagement with local payors and employers is also a priority.
Since SLPA is a physician-led organization, the following physicians were recently elected to SLPA’s inaugural Board of Managers and will set the priorities of the organization: Yazan Abdalla MD-Gastroenterology, Christopher Bowe MD-Internal Medicine, James Burke MD- Orthopedic Surgery, Christopher Felling MD-Anesthesiology, Scott Hardeman MD- Otolaryngology, George Hruza MD-Dermatology, Sri Kolli MD-Internal Medicine, Ranjan Malhotra MD-Ophthalmology, and David Raskas MD-Orthopedic-Spine Surgery. Two other non-physician positions will complete the board. Patrick Leahy has been named Executive Director.
SLPA is also pleased to announce that St. Anthony’s Physician Organization (SAPO) has joined the St. Louis Physician Alliance and will be collaborating on a number of initiatives. The St. Louis Physician Alliance seeks like-minded physicians who have an interest in delivering efficient, high quality healthcare at a lower cost. Physicians and other health care providers interested in joining the network can call 855-406-SLPA (7572).
