INTEGRATED Healthcare Strategies, a national healthcare human resource consulting firm and leader in compensation and engagement surveys, recently published its 2013 Advanced Practice Clinician Survey.
The survey, released December 20, 2013, represents data from a total of 244 participating healthcare organizations, representing over 19,500 individual providers. National and regional data were summarized for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in over 50 specialties, including hospital-based vs. clinic based providers, primary care, and surgical specialties. Data were also summarized for Certified Nurse Midwife incumbents.
The data compiled for the Advanced Practice Clinician Survey is effective June 30, 2013.
The survey showed the national average projected salary increase for the next 12 months for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants was reported as 2.7%, a slight increase from 2012 data.
Highlights from the 2013 survey also showed that approximately 35% of participating organizations offer signing bonuses to Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants. A similar amount of organizations also provide a formal incentive plan for these positions. When incentive plans are utilized, the most common metrics for determining incentive compensation are WRVUs, quality standards, patient satisfaction, and financial performance. In addition to detailed summaries of incentive awards by position and specialty, the survey also offers descriptive statistics regarding workforce trends, hiring practices, as well as other special pay and benefit practices.
