With the Catskill Mountain ski season in full gear, upstate New York real estate buyers are considering homes in proximity to the ski slopes.
“Our Catskill Mountain region abounds with peaks and trails for boarding or downhill skiing for all levels of ability,” said real estate broker Eric Wedemeyer, whose Coldwell Banker Timberland Properties has four offices in the Catskill Mountains. “Our offices are located just minutes from Belleayre Mountain Ski Center in Highmount and Ski Plattekill in Roxbury. We see many buyers who were initially drawn to the many winter recreation activities.”
For those desiring homes near the ski slopes, Wedemeyer made some recommendations. He cited a 2500 square-foot new log home that has views of Belleayre Mountain. Described by listing agent John Tufillaro as “beautifully appointed with Hickory wood floors on the main level with deep rich colored tiles in the entry hall and bathrooms and rustic pine floors on the second floor master suite”. The main focal point of the house is a magnificent local stone fireplace that extends nearly 25 feet from the floor. Set on 5.67 acres, the home as an asking price of $499,900.
Another Belleayre Mountain home is a 2900 square-foot home located in the desirable Chelsea Park subdivision. According to listing agent Sean O’Shaugnessy, the home features three bedrooms, two baths, an easy floor plan that flows as you find your favorite relaxing spots, a living room with a functional wood burning fireplace, and hand cut local pine floors and many windows for natural light and a view of the quiet outdoors. Offered for $385,000, the sits on 3.57 acres of land and is only an eight-minute drive from the ski lodge.
For views of the mountain, Wedemeyer suggests a 2000 square-foot, three bedroom, two bath home minutes from the ski centers. According to listing agent Susan Doig , the home features a great room with cathedral ceilings and fireplace, open kitchen, and endless decks that allow the entertaining to continue outside. She added that “the quality of the workmanship is evident in the wide pine floors, soapstone kitchen countertops, and tiled floors.” Offered at $299,000, the home is set on 5.11 acres of open meadows and woods.
