Every month, Executive Travel Directors (ETD) sends out a “TD Toolbox” newsletter to all their independent Travel Directors. Each edition of “TD Toolbox” serves as a resource for successful on-site meeting support professionals, offering tips and tricks for pre-program preparation to meeting execution. The TD Toolbox features 3 key mobile applications per month that offer Travel Directors further tools to get their job done more efficiently. This month, ETD’s top mobile app picks were geared toward navigating foreign destinations as seamlessly as possible. Here they are:

1. Duolingo

ETD always encourages Travel Directors to brush up on their foreign language skills, and now they can do it in transit. This free app is perfect for TDs to learn or enhance language skills in French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian and English, with interactive quizzes and games.

2. City Maps 2Go

No Wi-fi? Don’t want data roaming charges? There are no worries with this offline GPS and map mobile application. Navigate over 6,700 worldwide maps offline. Maps include millions of Points of Interest (dining, entertainment, services), Wikipedia travel guides and more.

3. Uber

Uber is a service that allows users to hail and pay for rides via mobile device. The Uber app provides real-time maps that track the nearest vacant taxis, town cars, and SUVs, in more than 60 cities and 20 countries.
