Former Counselor, Reading Specialist Nancy Sneed Shares Family Poetry in New Book
Clarksville, TN (PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- Every year, thousands of families will travel to the world’s beaches in search of bonding and escape from their day to day lives.
With her new poetry collection, “Grains of Sand,” author Nancy Sneed tells the story of a family vacation, from packing to reliving the trip through a family photo album.
The book, which combines several types of poetry with watercolor illustrations by Lynne Waters Griffey, has elements that speak to all members of the family.
“Some of the poems will tickle the funny bone of the youngest family member, while others will cause mothers to sigh and nod their heads,” says Sneed. “The poetry will appeal to anyone who loves family and the memories a family vacation can bring.”
Highlighting themes such as the natural antagonism between siblings and the unbreakable bonds of family, Sneed bases the stories loosely on her own experiences.
“My parents established the tradition of an annual family vacation, which I have continued with my own family,” says Sneed. “These are some of my most precious memories and I hope that my grandchildren will continue to carry on the tradition.
Sneed’s hope is that her poetry will trigger precious family memories within readers.
“I want readers to take away the warm feelings and excitement a family vacation can bring,” says Sneed.
