'We are excited to be utilizing the VIE technology to connect The First Tee of Oakland with all golfers who play at Metro. It is one of the most innovative fundraising solutions we have come across,' said, April Kenyon, Executive Director.

Portland, OR (PRWEB) January 30, 2014

The First Tee of Oakland, Oakland, CA, has announced their decision to utilize VIE Sports Inc.’s recently launched, gamified social (giving) platform - VIE Connect™ to materially enhance their Golf for Our Future event, at the Metropolitan Golf Links (Metro), their home course, located in Oakland, CA. Proceeds from this event benefit The First Tee of Oakland to help youth claim a bright future.

Through utilization of VIE’s proprietary Athon technology, combining competition and Athon-type pledging, this year’s Golf for Our Future event is from January 27th through February 16th. Golfers participate by playing at Metro on any day at anytime within the set timeframe. Golfers play, post scores and seek donation pledges from friends and family to support The First Tee of Oakland. Scores are adjusted for course difficulty and the golfer’s course handicap. A Leaderboard presents the competition and fundraising results crowning a Low Net VIE score champion and Top-Fundraiser champion. The VIE Connect™ platform and proprietary GolfAthon technology has facilitated The First Tee of Oakland to have an outreach to all golfers who play Metro as the event is not limited to one specific day and time. The Golf for Our Future fundraising event will empower The First Tee of Oakland to dramatically increase the number of participants, thus the funds raised for this worthy cause.

The First Tee of Oakland GolfAthon event is sponsored by the Metropolitan Golf Links, MGM Resorts International and Walters Golf of Las Vegas. Champions win a Las Vegas Golf Vacation for two, and other prizes are awarded, including complimentary Metro golf rounds, cart use and range balls.

“VIE was created to enhance the opportunities of those who strive to Do Good in this world, and support a greater cause. Our team is inspired by organizations like the The First Tee of Oakland to create something unique and powerful to help them achieve their fundraising requirements,” says VIE CEO Frank Richards. “We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with such excellent organizations as The First Tee of Oakland and the Metropolitan Golf Links in advancing their fundraising initiatives supporting the youth of Oakland and the East Bay.”

The First Tee of Oakland is not just a golf program. It is a youth development program that positively impacts the lives of young people by offering research-based curriculum centered on life skills, core values and healthy choices taught through the game of golf. Our programs build character and teach skills that help participants face challenges at home, school and play in a constructive manner. The award-winning curriculum is offered at Lake Chabot Golf Course, Metropolitan Golf Links and Montclair Golf Course

“We are excited to be utilizing the VIE technology to connect The First Tee of Oakland with all golfers who play at Metro. It is one of the most innovative fundraising solutions we have come across,” said, April Kenyon, Executive Director. “Instead of holding a single golf tournament limited to 144 players on a single day and time, we can invite thousands of golfers and their friends to play, invite their friends to play and, or pledge a donation to make a difference in the lives of young people in Oakland.”
